What does each option in the TV's Extras tab do?

The Extras tab, on each TV's page, brings together app settings and management information. To change any of them:

  1. In the TVs menu, click the TV's name.
  2. Click the Extras tab.
  3. Click Enable Editing.
  4. Make the changes.
  5. Click Save.

Important: some options only appear on certain devices (Android or Windows) or app versions. If an option does not appear on your TV, it is not available for that device. Changes may take a few minutes to take effect and are only applied when the TV is Online / Working correctly.

Control panel

  • Show on Status Page and Button: sets whether the TV's status appears on the Status Page and on the status button in the menu.
  • Show Alerts: shows alerts if the TV has trouble starting up or stays Offline / No communication for many days in a row.

See what each TV status means.

Display Language

App

  • Transition Effect: with Yes, there is a "fade" effect when switching from one piece of content to the next. With No, the switch is direct.
  • Video Playback Mode: appears only on some devices with older versions of the app. Normal works well on most devices. See video scale and playback mode.
  • Audio: Disabled, Enabled (default) or Always On. See how audio works.
  • Auto Start (Android): whether the app opens by itself when the device is switched on. See The app does not open by itself when the TV is switched on.
  • Auto Monitor (Android): whether the app reopens by itself when it is closed. See App and Monitor App.
  • File scale (Windows): how each file fits the window. See file scale.
  • Screen / Monitor, Window size and Window position (Windows): on which screen and in which area the app shows content, such as on LED panels. See how to display content on an LED panel.
  • Secure connection: whether the app uses HTTPS. See the section below.
  • File integrity check: with Enabled, the app checks the integrity of files when downloading them. The default is Disabled. See integrity check problem.
  • Restart the App automatically: appears only in old versions of the app. See TVs switched on all the time.

Secure connection

OptionWhat it does
Disabled (default)The app does not make any connection over HTTPS (with SSL).
AutomaticThe app uses HTTPS only when the current conditions allow the connection to work correctly.
AlwaysThe app always uses HTTPS. Recommended only if your organisation requires all data sent over the network to go through HTTPS.

In most cases, Disabled is the most suitable option. On some devices, if there are certificate problems (depending on the content accessed) and the system clock is set incorrectly, an invalid certificate error may appear on the screen. If you are unsure, leave the option disabled or contact our support team.

Management

  • Tags / Folders: group TVs to make them easier to manage in the list. See how to use tags/folders.
  • Barcode (EAN / UPC) and Description / Additional information: free-text information to identify the TV. It appears when you hover the mouse over the TV's name in the list and is included in searches.
  • Operating Hours: see what it is for.

Monetisation

Tip: if a red information icon appears next to the Extras tab name, the device does not support or is blocking the automatic start-up of the app. See The app does not open by itself when the TV is switched on.
